what is printer explain the types of printer

Printers are used to create printed copies of documents and images. They transfer a digital image or computer file to a light-sensitive, paper-based medium for printing. Ink is applied to the paper by an electrostatic charge acting on the particles of ink, so it can only be seen when it comes into contact with light: fixing the page in one place until dry."

There are three types of printers used today: inkjet printers, laser printers, and dot matrix printers.

Dot-matrix printers were the most common type of printer in the 1980s, but have mostly given way to inkjet and laser printers. They print by making a series of impact dot matrix on paper. Most dot-matrix printers are capable of producing both higher quality text than a typical inkjet printer and graphics that are equivalent to low-resolution inkjets. Dot matrices give better quality than ink jets because they use pins or needles to form dots as opposed to sprays of tiny nozzles. A few systems used a rotating "dot roller" with multiple colors of paint or ink applied at different angles (e.g., Diablo's Rainbow Printer).

Inkjet printers are the most common type ofprinter used today. Inkjet printers have multiple nozzles that dispense jets of ink onto paper. The nozzles are arranged in patterns designed to minimize overlap and deliver a single pass of ink at the highest resolution.

Laser printers use a toner cartridge (or more than one), which is charged with a very fine powdered toner, in effect making it an electric transfer or frictional electrophotographic copying machine. The cartridge is built into the printer, replacing the drum and fuser unit of older machines, and may be replaceable or refillable

Printers are machines that use ink and paper to create a hard copy of what is digitally written. For many years, printers have been in use, but it wasn't until the late 1800s that a Japanese inventor named Matsuo Nitta invented a crude press using nozzles as opposed to ink which would eventually lead to the invention of typewriters.

Today there are now two types of printers: Thermal Printers and Inkjet Printers. Thermal Printers heat up materials such as wax or oil with gas-fired burners or electric heating elements. They can print on both regular paper or special plastic films which are cheaper in price than papers. Inkjet Printers use similar ink cartridges to conventional ballpoint pens to print on paper.

In this article, we will discuss the uses of a normal thermal printer and one of their most popular models: the Brother HL-L8300DW.

Starter Guide:what is printer explained in detail

What is a thermal printer? A thermal printer uses heat to create hard copies of printed text, images or other materials such as receipts. A thermal printer usually combines two or more functions into its basic design: scanning and printing. It's speed depends on how fast it can produce these two outputs at once. Printing is done at a speed of up to 57 pages per minute (ppm) while scanning can produce up to 150 pages per minute.

In addition to that, it can also perform functions like printing receipts and saving information in memory to be accessed later on.

A thermal printer consists of a printhead, control panel and separate cassette tray. The printhead is directly connected to the control panel while the cassettes are placed in the cassette tray in an output tray using automatic feeding devices. Thermal printers have different sizes depending on its capacity: single-width (3 inch borderless printing), long edge (4-inch borderless printing) or double-sided (4-inch borderless printing).
